Also when you first get up, your protein stores are depleted, so your body is getting needed protein by breaking down muscle tissue. You are also depleted of blood sugar and glycogen as well as suffering from dehydration.

If you are trying to gain lean muscle fast, your first goal must be to restore nutrients and hydration no later than 45 minutes after awakening. You can accomplish this with the right breakfast.
